Given the previous outstanding interest, the Ministry of Agriculture is re-announcing its tender for the development of enterprises classified as agricultural producers with a small farm size, with a budget of 15 billion forints – announced Minister of Agriculture István Nagy. The aim of the call is to strengthen the income-generating ability of the smallest farmers.

The Minister emphasized that within the framework of the call now launched, non-refundable support of up to 10 million forints can be requested for the implementation of agricultural investments. This tender also provides an opportunity for producers who did not meet the conditions in the previous call or whose application for support was rejected to submit their applications again. This will be possible from June 18, 2026. The support opportunity is open to primary producers, individual entrepreneurs who qualify as agricultural producers, and social cooperatives whose farm size meets the conditions set out in the announcement, he added. He explained that a total of 1,604 applications were received for the previous, similar tender last year, and as a result of the decisions made so far, 556 farmers have already received support worth almost 5 billion forints. Let us not forget that the assessment is ongoing. The re-announcement of the program was justified by the great interest and the role of small farms in food self-sufficiency and environmental sustainability, István Nagy highlighted.

The minister said that small farms not only play an important role in local food supply

They also contribute to environmental sustainability, the preservation of local knowledge and traditions, and the strengthening of trust between producers and consumers. The growing consumer demand for locally produced products justifies the support of producers with the smallest farm sizes, who in many cases do not even have the resources to implement developments. The aim of this call is therefore to help those small-scale agricultural producers with the potential to develop and who wish to continue viable farming in the long term, the Minister of Agriculture emphasized.
