The government launches a new digital development program to increase the competitiveness of SMEs

The government is launching a new labor market program with 2 billion forints to develop the digital infrastructure of enterprises. The support can increase the competitiveness, market share, and employee qualification levels of domestic SMEs, and it can also help hire new employees, announced Sándor Czomba, State Secretary for Employment Policy at the Ministry of National Economy, in his statement on Wednesday.

The primary goal of the program is to support the digitalization of production, manufacturing, sales, and business processes related to the activities of domestic SMEs, the introduction of digital services, and the development of training and digital skills necessary for the use of the implemented developments.

The State Secretary explained:

The amount of non-refundable support that can be requested within the framework of the application program is a minimum of 10 million and a maximum of 80 million forints, and its amount can be a maximum of 70 percent of the total eligible costs of the project.

The applicant must undertake to increase the number of staff by 1-5 people, depending on the statistical number of employees. Under the program, it is also mandatory to undertake the training of at least one person, which is related to the digital development to be implemented.

The applicant must undertake to continuously maintain and operate the acquired assets, intangible assets, and technological developments related to the digitalization development for at least one year from the date of commissioning.

In addition, the applicant must undertake a continuous employment obligation of at least 12 months, or a maximum of 18 months, depending on the undertaking, for the average statistical headcount of its employees employed at the location of the application after the project is implemented and for the additional number of employees hired as a result of the staff increase related to the development
