The head of the ministry announced on his social media page that the procedure will be transferred to the hands of a state liquidator, so that it can be resolved sooner. The goal is clear, farmers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) should get their money as soon as possible, so that they do not end up in a liquidity crisis because Bászna Gabona Zrt. went bankrupt – he said. The price of honest work must be paid, it is a matter of honor and a legal obligation, which we will fulfill – he said. According to the post, the government will not allow the work of farmers supplying their crops to be wasted due to irresponsible farming or the next production cycle to be jeopardized. In order to ensure the livelihood of producers and the necessary agricultural work, the government is providing extraordinary compensation on an equitable basis, so that both the suppliers of grain, the contractors, and the natural persons and SMEs paying the advance and storing the grain can access their legitimate claims, he added.

István Nagy announced that the application for compensation must be submitted to the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) by February 26

236 farmers have already submitted their claims for compensation in the amount of almost 3.2 billion forints, mostly small farmers whose losses are less than 20 million forints. This clearly shows how indispensable the state’s support is for their work. For larger enterprises, filing for liquidation proceedings provides an opportunity for recovery, which is facilitated by the strategic emphasis now announced. This means faster administration and stronger state control – he emphasized. Farmers, as before, can always count on the national government – the Minister of Agriculture stated.
