The Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKIK) has created a business platform called the BKIK Corporate Club, which creates an opportunity for the managers of large Budapest companies to directly discuss the current issues of the economy and business life, as well as their questions and suggestions in the form of an interactive dialogue, directly discussing the with government representatives. On June 13, 2023, at the first event of the Corporate Club, nearly forty company managers met with the Minister of Finance Mihály Varga.
The participants of the event came from various sectors of the economy, from the capital’s transport and utility providers, through retail to the entertainment industry. Finance Minister Mihály Varga outlined for the participants the cornerstones of the current economic policy, focusing mainly on the inflation situation and the environmental effects of the war, but he also treated the outlook for energy prices as a priority topic.
At the event, the present large company managers were able to directly ask their questions, present their proposals, and draw the minister’s attention to the need for measures to promote the operation of their own sectors. At the event, which took place in a constructive spirit, the finance minister specifically encouraged company managers to support the ministry’s work by presenting direct experiences and practical proposals from the market.
