The government guarantees that there will continue to be a flood of tourists in Croatia
Croatia remains an attractive destination for tourists, and the government aims to keep it that way. In order to do this, Croatian tourism providers must maintain the price restrictions that have been in place for three years. At the last government meeting, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković emphasized that responsible pricing is key to the success of the tourist season and the mitigation of inflation.
According to recent data from the Croatian Statistical Office, annual inflation in July fell to 2.3 percent, while it showed stagnation on a monthly basis. This is already the twentieth month that inflation has been continuously slowing down in Croatia. The government has been limiting energy prices and the prices of 30 products in the consumer basket for three years, which helps curb inflation. Plenković emphasized that the government’s goal is to continuously reduce inflation, and therefore it is important that tourism operators behave responsibly in pricing.
The strength of Croatian tourism is also supported by the numbers: since the beginning of the year, 11.6 million guests have arrived in the country, spending a total of 55.3 million guest nights. This means 4 percent more guests and 1 percent more guest nights than in the same period of the previous year.
