The government considers logistics to be a key sector of the Hungarian economy
Logistics is a key sector of the Hungarian economy, and the government has supported and continues to support numerous investments in the sector, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in Miskolc on Friday.
According to a statement from the ministry, at the handover of Robert Bosch Power Tool Kft.’s recent investment, the minister reported that within the framework of this 54 billion forint project, the German tool manufacturer has established a regionally significant logistics and distribution center in the city.
In his speech, he highlighted that the company has not yet installed a finished product storage function in our country, but from now on, all its products to be shipped to the East will start their journey from here.
He also reminded that
the Hungarian government has concluded a strategic cooperation agreement with Bosch for more than a decade, which also has real content, as evidenced by the fact that the company has now become the largest employer among foreign-owned industrial players in Hungary, employing approximately 18,300 people.
The minister explained that Hungary’s geographical location makes it perfectly suited to become an important logistics hub in the region, as several large and busy European trade routes pass through it.
“And the shortest and most efficient land transport route between Southeastern Europe and the western half of the continent passes through us,” he said.
“That is why we consider the logistics sector to be one of the key sectors of the Hungarian economy. It is no wonder, since 290 thousand people work in this sector. Last year, 275 million tons of goods were transported and moved in and through Hungary,”
he added.
