Béla Prohászka has recently been elected the new chairman of the Hungarian National Association of Gastronomy. – Being a very busy man, isn’t it difficult to co-ordinate the work of the association from the eastern end of the country? – I have a tight schedule, which means I will have to select some tasks which are more important than others. I am sure that the distance will not be a problem. – What was your winning program? – I think that the most important thing is to continue what my predecessor has started. The activities I have been pursuing successfully in my region served as a reference proving the feasibility of my system. – What are you going to start with as chairman? – I think that the most pressing issue we need to deal with is the state of education and training. MNGSZ will be more active in educational institutions and we’ll organise training courses. We have already begun to contact institutions which show a willingness to join our association. – What is going to be your approach to other gastronomic organisations, regarded by many people as rivals? – I do not see anybody as a rival and I think I am a man of compromise. I believe that there are highly competent people in the other organisations as well and I want us to reconcile our differences. I intend to organise a meeting with the leaders of the other organisations soon so that we can have a friendly discussion. The principles our program is based on are almost identical to those of the other organisations.
