Export and import decreased in August
According to datas of Hungarian Statistic Office in August 2008, according to first estimates, exports amounted to HUF 1,265 billion (EUR 5,378 million), while the value of imports reached HUF 1,287 billion (EUR 5,482 million).
The Euro value of exports decreased by
1, that of imports fell by 2 percent over the equivalent month of the
preceding year. In August, the trade balance showed a deficit of
about HUF 23 billion (EUR 104 million), the balance improved by HUF
18 billion (EUR 73 million) compared to the same month of 2007. The
share of the European Union Member States was 79 percent in exports
and 70 percent in imports.
Over the course of January–August
2008, the value of exports was HUF 12,269 billion (EUR 49,218
million), while that of imports totalled up to HUF 12,265 billion
(EUR 49,220 million) according to preliminary results. In Euro terms,
exports grew by 11, while imports by 10 percent. During the period
the trade balance in effect equilibrated, it improved by HUF 115
billion (EUR 455 million) as compared to the deficit of HUF 111
billion (EUR 457 million) in the same period of the previous year.
