In spite of excellent agricultural land, there is no closing up in CEE
The CEE food industry is sitting in a vicious circle, for weak needs the answer is weak offer – said an UNIDO research, published by business daily Világgazdaság.
UNIDO is implementing, within the
European Commission (EC) 6th. Framework Programme, a foresight
exercise on the future of the food industry in six countries in
Central and Eastern Europe: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic,
Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. The project started on the 1 February
2007 and finished on the 31 January 2009.
The ultimate goal of the project was to
assist the total food chain in the CEE to reach international quality
and safety standards, and in turn, to enhance European
competitiveness as a whole by developing an industry, which is
synonymous with safety, diversity, sophistication and products of
high quality.
According to research the 6 countries
are sitting in the same trouble, there is no need for quality foods,
because the consumer power is weak, the profitability in the section
is low. By shopping inhabitans' only decision factor is the price.
