The 2024 KÉSZ Group Balatonfond was a celebration of perseverance
Despite the extreme cold, nearly a thousand competitors took part in the KÉSZ Group Balatonfondo, a cycling festival organized on the shores of Lake Balaton. On the top step of the podium were 15-year-old and over 65-year-old competitors, according to the organizers, this also shows that cycling is open and accessible to all ages. The eponymous sponsor, the KÉSZ Group, participated in the competition with 21 competitors.
In 2024, the KÉSZ Group Balatonfondo bicycle race was organized for the second time, which became a real cycling holiday on the shores of Lake Balaton, in Balatonfüred. On an extremely cold September Saturday morning reminiscent of November, nearly a thousand competitors gathered to compete in the various distances. The composition of the competitors also showed the diversity of cycling, as the proportion of women exceeded 10 percent, and a significant number of foreign competitors were also represented.
Cycling is becoming more and more popular
Dr. Schneller Domonkos, the main patron of the event and the president of the Hungarian Cycling Association, who himself took part in the race, said after arriving at the finish line:
“This day once again proved that cycling has gained more and more popularity in Hungary over the past years. The endurance and performance of the competitors inspires us all, as they all reached the finish line successfully and, most importantly, without any accidents.”
He added:
“It is especially great that the amateurs have role models such as Attila Valter, who participated in the event as an ambassador, Dina Marci, who also skates here, or Blanka Vas, who achieve outstanding results not only at home, but also internationally. They are living examples that cycling has a future in Hungary.”
