Nearly a quarter of retail workers are employed part-time
About 12 percent of the physical workers in the domestic competitive sector are employed part-time, but in retail, this percentage is even higher; 23 percent, with a decrease of 5 percentage points in the last four years – Világgazdaság Online quotes Blokkk.com’s research. While in 2014, 38,000 of the 134,000 shop workers were part-time, last year, 34,000 out of 146,000.
According to the trade portal’s aggregation, 42 percent of the nearly 9800 of the sellers at chains employing 2,000 to 5,000 employees, (such as Aldi, Lidl and Penny), were part-time employees in the past year, while at companies over 5,000 employees (such as Auchan, SPAR, Tesco ) only 20 percent of the more than 25,000 employees belong to this category.
