The week before the start of school this year was the second strongest week in the history of Kifli.hu based on order data. The turnover of school supplies exceeded last year’s level by more than a tenth. Parents can now purchase all the products needed for the start of the school year online, quickly and conveniently.

The last days before the start of school proved once again how serious a task the start of the school year is for families. According to the online supermarket’s data, the turnover of school supplies increased by nearly 15 percent compared to last year’s level. In terms of number of items, customers add more than a third of the annual turnover of the category to their basket during this period. According to Kifli.hu data, the week between August 25 and 31, 2025 was the second strongest period in the company’s history based on order frequency. Parents not only bought a significant amount of stationery products from the nearly 400-product range, but also saw a spectacular increase in sales of fresh baked goods, cheeses, cold cuts, drinks and chilled snacks for lunch and afternoon tea. The online supermarket aims to make it easy for parents of all ages – from nursery school to high school students – to easily purchase the necessary products for the start of the school year. The most popular school supplies during this period were stationery, notebooks, writing instruments and creative tools. The top 5 brands in this category were Ars Una, Victoria Paper, Bic, Süni and Kubo.

Demand clearly shifted from seasonal summer products to essential food and accessories related to the start of school, and the private label Yutto, Mii, Decello and Pappudia products were among the most popular choices thanks to their good price-value ratio.

The online supermarket experts expect outstanding order numbers in the weeks after the start of school. The vast majority of purchases mean on average once a week or two to three larger purchases per month, but more and more families are choosing to order several times a week to have all the necessary equipment and food available in time for the first part of the school year.

The demand for health-conscious products is also outstanding during this period: children’s snacks often contain apples, bananas, berries, fresh baked goods, cold cuts, cheese, and oil seeds. In addition, homemade dishes – such as muffins, pancakes, or chia pudding – are also increasingly popular, and all the ingredients for these are easily available in the Kifli.hu range. Practical, pre-assembled snack box packages are also available for parents, offering children non-perishable foods, drinks, and fruit purees.
