Kifli.hu’s parent company and AutoStore are creating a world-first, AI-driven center
Kifli.hu The partnership aims to bring next-generation automation solutions to food retailers worldwide.
The Vienna headquarters of the Rohlik Group is the first in the world to introduce real-time order management in its AutoStore, a so-called grid processing system. The AutoStore technology is based on a cube-based solution, where robots running on top of the storage system perform warehouse operations, so it can be adapted to the dimensions of the application site. Combined with Veloq technology, the solution automatically arranges the assembled orders according to the delivery route, eliminating manual sorting, making the process faster and reducing costs. The development allows more than 20,000 products to be assembled in 30 minutes, even in the fresh, dry goods, frozen and pharmaceutical categories.
The partnership will see Veloq become the official supplier of AutoStore solutions, combining AutoStore’s robotics platform with Veloq’s proprietary AI software and operational expertise. The two companies have created a model that enables food retailers of all sizes, from large, centralized warehouses to smaller, local units, to deliver faster, fresher and more sustainable products.
A new global benchmark in smart logistics
Tomáš Čupr, founder and CEO of Rohlik Group, said:
“This is a milestone not only for us, but for the entire food industry. Together with AutoStore, we are showing how cutting-edge technology can make food delivery more accessible, faster and more sustainable. At Rohlik, we have always believed that technology should serve people – helping families eat better and more consciously. The Vienna headquarters is an example of what happens when this vision meets significant innovation.”
“The food retail industry is undergoing rapid transformation. Retailers are facing increasing expectations, labor shortages and costs – while customers continue to expect freshness and reliability,”
– said Mats Hovland Vikse, CEO of AutoStore.
“Together with Veloq, we are redefining what fast and intelligent service means. The Vienna hub demonstrates that food industry expertise and AutoStore technology, together, set a new global standard for speed, accuracy and efficiency,” he added.
Richard McKenzie, CEO of Veloq, said:
“Veloq was created to solve the biggest challenges of online grocery retail – freshness, short shelf life and complex order management. We don’t just automate, we coordinate. By combining AutoStore’s precision hardware and our AI platform, we have created a complete solution tailored for food. The Vienna hub is the model of the future – and it’s just the beginning. We are ready to make the solution available to our partners in Europe and North America.”
Proven performance for expansion optimized
Veloq’s platform is already operating successfully in five European markets, with the following results:
- 94 percent order accuracy and on-time delivery
- NPS above 90
- 30-minute order preparation and three-hour delivery
The Vienna facility is divided into seven temperature zones, integrating fresh baked goods and pharmaceutical categories, AI-based routing and volume-based selection – for maximum efficiency and minimal waste.
Global Goals
Veloq and AutoStore are rolling out the food automation system globally to meet the growing demand for high-performance, AI-powered logistics infrastructure. Expansion into North America is already in the works, and the partners expect the Vienna model to be quickly and efficiently adapted to additional markets.
