Are the days of cash in the hospitality industry numbered?
What direction is hospitality heading in and what role does digitization play in this – this question was one of the most important topics held on November 24.
The last 2-3 years have been a stressful period for those working in the hospitality industry: restrictions and closures due to the coronavirus epidemic, energy crisis due to war, labor shortages, rising food prices. In this difficult situation, we should generate (more) profit, operate with greater efficiency, while survival is often the issue. Experts define digitization as a kind of efficiency-enhancing tool – but how does it add to the development of gastroenterprises? Why is it important to invest in this? We explored these questions with the help of Károly Gerendai (Costes), Balázs Magyar (Bizpay), Máté Boldizsár (SALT), Ferenc Szász (Mastercard®), Péter Klekner (Kifli.hu) and Gábor Szórád (Tadam).
That suspicious restaurant that only accepts cash
Card payments were already predominant in the days before Covid-19, but the “digital madness” caused by the epidemic added another layer to this. Today, card payment is so dominant in the sector that restaurants that only accept cash are especially suspicious.
