Horticulture’s primary output is 300 billion HUF

Horticulture is the third most important  sector of the Hungarian agriculture, its primary output, producer revenue is approximately 300 billion HUF – said Mártonffy Béla, at the National Assembly’s Subcommittee on Horticulture meeting on Wednesday.

The President of the Hungarian Fruit and Vegetable Interprofessional Organization and Marketing Board and the Secretary of the Hungarian Horticultural Council told that the value of products, produced by the horticultural sector, namely fruit and vegetables, mushroom products, ornamental plants, medicinal herbs have reached 1,000 billion HUF in sales. In addition, the horticultural sector plays a significant role in rural employment and in keeping the rural population at their homeland. The horticultural sector provides full or partial employment for about 300 thousand families. (MTI)
