Traders suspends the implementation of food code

Although the Economic Competition Authority has welcomed the creation of the code, and believed only a few points concerned, traders reject the entire code referring to Economic Competition Authority's competition investigation.

According to Vámos György the Secretary-General of the National Trade Association (OKSZ) is not known which points alleged by the Economic Competition Authority. Moreover there is no guarantee, that Brussels will only debate with the points objected by the Economic Competition Authority. The signatories of the code assumed that they choose the domestic product or service instead of the foreign that the same content if offers domestic product, or service in the case of same offers. In accordance the traders can only use import products to widen product range but not for decreasing the prices and the ratio of imports on the store shelves must not exceed 20 percent. Producers believe this anunfriendly step food processors would consult on the issue – reports Népszabadság.
