Hungarian shopping tourism in Burgenland
About 20 percent of the 35 million euros revenue of the stores of Burgenland is left by Hungarian Christmas shoppers – told the Economic Chamber of Burgenland to MTI.
Most of the money – 36 percent of the total value of purchases – goes on clothing and footwear and for food (22 percent).
On an annual level, Hungarians spend 130 million euros in Burgenland stores. This is the 15 percent of the total annual turnover, and more than half of the purchasing power, that the inhabitants of Burgenland spend abroad or on the Internet, not in the shops Burgenland.
