Combine harvesters started up in the heat
The the winter barley harvest has been started in the country's hottest regions in Bács-Kiskun and Baranya counties.
Accoring to the informations of the village farmers, the yield is ranges around 2.5 to 4 tons per hectare in the Great Plains. There are more favorable results from Baranya where yield is around an average of 4.5 to 5 tons per hectare.
Accoring to the National Food Chain Safety Office (NÉBIH), combine harvesters have started up in the southern counties. If the warm stays, the winter wheat harvest can begin at the end of the month. The Ministry of Rural Development estimates that a 4 to 4.2 million tons harvest is expected on 1.1 million hectares. The representatives of the producers expect less, a 3.5 to 3.8 million tons of harvest. (by our colleague)
