For the eighth year in a row, JYSK Hungary has decided to close its stores on December 24th so that employees can spend the holiday with their families. The move is intended to give employees a chance to rest and recharge after the extremely busy Advent period.

The weeks leading up to Christmas are among the busiest times for retail, so it has become a tradition for the company not to open its stores on Christmas Eve. JYSK stores will be open for customers during their regular opening hours on December 22 and 23, and will reopen after the holidays on December 27.

JYSK continues to grow in the Hungarian market: it currently operates 101 stores in the country and achieved sales of HUF 89 billion in the 2024/25 financial year, an increase of 16.4 percent compared to the previous year. In addition, the number of customers in Hungary increased by 9.9 percent. This year is a particularly important milestone for JYSK, as it celebrates its 20th anniversary in Hungary in 2025.

“At JYSK, we place great emphasis on ensuring that our colleagues can not only develop professionally, but also enjoy a work-life balance. The Christmas closure reflects this approach – it is important for us that our employees can be with their loved ones on the most important days and relax after the intense work of the festive period. The fact that in 2025 Forbes, TIME and Fortune magazines also ranked JYSK among the world’s best employers, while  we won the Top Employer award in Hungary for the third time this year, is confirmation for us that we are on the right track”

– said Ágnes Nyeste, JYSK’s regional HR director.
