Shepherds on the verge of going bankrupt in spite of the season
There is an increasing interest in sheeps, shepherds still do not make any extra cash due to the gradual weaking of forint.
Even though most seasonal products associated with the Eater-holiday – eggs, candies and ham – are reaching their annual peak in popularity during the first two weeks of April, shepherds are not paricularly happy about their financial results. The interest in sheeps is still high, especially from abroad – however, forint has gotten so weak compared to euro that shepherds do not feel the effects of the increased interest in their sheeps. According to the Hungarian Agricultural Chamber, there is a strong need for serious re-arrangments in the market, otherwise shepherds are not going to gain any extras beside their expenses. Expers say that the market should open its gates to new areas to beat competitors: Romania, Poland and Bulgaria, countries which seem to have turned out to be great exporters. If nothing changing, the Agricultural Chamber says, shepherds are going to go bankrupt in a short while.
