”The tourism of the future is built on values” – Tourism Summit 2025 provided a compass
The Tourism Summit 2025 conference was held in Budapest with the participation of more than a thousand domestic and international professionals, where the trends that will determine the future of tourism – sustainability, digitalization and artificial intelligence – came into focus.
According to Olivér Csendes, CEO of Visit Hungary, the event successfully served its purpose: to prepare Hungarian tourism players for the challenges of the coming years. There was great interest in the event held in Bálna – the number of registrations exceeded the available places, so a waiting list had to be opened.
Technology is no longer an issue – values are
The invited experts agreed: the transformation of tourism is no longer determined by the development of technology, but by its value-based and ethical use.
“The most difficult questions today are not about what technology is capable of, but about: what boundaries and rules we set for its use,” said Olivér Csendes.
After digitalization, the sector is about to take another leap: after artificial intelligence, quantum technology could bring radical changes in the world of travel, consumer habits and work.
Sustainability – in actions, not slogans
The participants emphasized: the green transition cannot be postponed.
“If we leave the change to tourists alone, we will be late. Government, businesses and consumers must act together” – said the head of Visit Hungary.
The event also presented an English-language publication collecting 50 Hungarian sustainability good practices, as well as a new calculator measuring the carbon footprint of spas and adventure baths.
The message is clear: measurable results and concrete action are needed.
Travel is still about experiences
The conference confirmed that despite technological advances, travel remains a human experience.
“Travel is the new classroom: there we learn, develop, and even change,” emphasized Olivér Csendes.
According to the presentation by Professor Barbara Neuhofer (University of Salzburg), the future is represented by transformative travel experiences, which have a lasting impact on travelers’ thinking and worldview.
