Jászság became the new center of truffles
The Jászság region is known for being one of the best places in Central Europe for summer truffle hunting.
Despite the relatively small amount of forests with the necessary conditions for truffle growth, the region has several truffle-hunting spots, thanks to the presence of Trifla orchards, which are typically created with oak trees. Private individuals and local forestry businesses in the area use dogs to help them find truffles. The article also mentions that the “Jászsági summer truffle” received EU protection as a geographical indication in 2021.
The truffle has an intense, slightly nutty taste and is typically harvested from late May to the end of August.
