Magyar Telekom and Hello Nonprofit announced a tender specifically for Hungarian non-profit organizations under the title In circulation, interaction, community. In the call, applications were expected from organizations that reduce e-waste and digital environmental pollution; for urban climate adaptation; or they focus on supporting the resilience of domestic ecosystems. The jury selected the winner from 21 applications, the Jane Goodall Institute “Pass back, Brother!” program, which receives HUF 16 million in support.

Promoting climate protection and the circular economy is an important element of Magyar Telekom’s ESG strategy. The company itself increases the number of used devices collected every year in order to return them to the circulation after recycling as raw materials or in the form of donations. This year, Magyar Telekom collected tens of thousands of devices, roughly 4 tons of electronic waste, across the country. The company has also been offering its customers refurbished devices for a year in the name of sustainability.

For more than a month, applications from Hungarian non-profit organizations were awaited for the application entitled “Circulation, interaction, community”. through Hello Nonprofit’s online platform. Those interested could submit their applications in 3 categories:

  • reducing e-waste and digital pollution
  • supporting urban climate adaptation
  • supporting the resilience and climate adaptation of Hungarian ecosystems

Telekom undertook to support a climate adaptation project with HUF 500 for every used device handed in by its customers and colleagues, divided into 3 phases, up to HUF 16 million. The selected program has now won this amount through the tender.
