According to András Solymosi, sales director of LHG Kft., the Hungarian market is characterised by extremities regarding the condition of refrigeration equipment found in stores. Both ancient relics from socialist times and the latest technology can be seen. Knowledge of the goods to be kept cold and of the refrigeration technology is essential. One of the most frequently made mistakes is the overfilling of refrigeration equipment which prevents optimal operation and is also a danger to the goods. Technical specifications must always be observed. There are some things which need to be attended to on a daily basis, like switching internal lights on and off, and opening doors for only the shortest possible period. Refrigeration equipment operates 24 hours a day, which means that preventive maintenance is required once every two or three months, which should be carried out by qualified professionals. When purchasing refrigeration equipment, operation costs should also be taken into consideration in addition to price. The use of modern equipment can result in up to a 30 percent reduction in electricity bills. As refrigerators give off heat, their environment needs to be air conditioned.
