Third of the Easter meat comes from SMEs
About a third of the meat products marketed during the Easter holidays are from Hungarian small and medium sized enterprises – said Babati Zoltán, board member of the the Livestock and Meat Marketing Interprofessional Organization and Board (VHT).
The SMEs are giving about 30 percent of the 370-420 billion HUF annual revenue of the meat industry. The Easter turnover is 5-10 percent of the annual revenue. The small and medium-sized companies usually transports 25-30 tonnes of goods per company to the store shelves for the holidays.
Babati Zoltán pointed out that the Hungarian meat products have somewhat higher prices usually than the imported products of the large food chains, but teh traditional smoked products with traditional flavor are giving more pleasant gastronomic experience than the cheaper and often uncertain-origin mass products.
