The Croatian government has limited the prices of some basic foodstuffs
At its meeting on Thursday, the Croatian government adopted its fourth comprehensive package of measures designed to alleviate the crisis caused by the rise in the cost of living, with which it freezes energy carriers and limits the price of basic foodstuffs, as well as provides one-time subsidies to vulnerable groups, Croatian public television (HRT) announced.
Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said at the government meeting: the package defines three basic goals, most of which relate to mitigating the rise in energy prices. 1.181 billion euros are provided for this, 169 million euros have been earmarked for protection against inflation, and 347 million euros for social benefits and subsidies.
The government will freeze the price of electricity for the next six months, and the price of gas for the next year, the Prime Minister said. He emphasized: the measure practically prevents the electricity price for households from rising by 100 percent and the gas price by 70 percent from April 1.
