The Croatian government decided to keep shops closed on Sundays
The Croatian government decided on Thursday to partially close shops on Sundays, Labor Minister Marin Piletic announced at the press conference following the cabinet meeting.

They are saving on the utility bills, too
The head of the ministry emphasized: according to the proposed amendment to the law, which must also be adopted by the parliament, shops will be allowed to be open on Sundays for a maximum of 16 weeks, with a few exceptions, and the basic salary will be increased by 50 percent on Sundays or public holidays.
Among the exceptions, the draft legislation mentions petrol stations, as well as shops operating in the area of hospitals, airports, bus and railway stations. Shops and bakeries can be open on Sundays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said in the part of the government meeting open to the press: the adoption of the cabinet’s proposal will enable mainly employees working in shops to spend Sundays with their families.
