Top categories in store types
According to data from the Retail Index of Nielsen, the market share of hyper markets and super markets increased in the food market in the February 2007- January 2008 period. Sales of 90 food categories are monitored by Nielsen. Sales show the highest concentration in the cheese and mineral water categories. Beer and carbonated soft drinks show the highest degree of fragmentation. The above period is labelled as 2007 in the table for the sake of simplicity.
