Luxury goods manufacturer Hermés’ quarterly revenue rose 4.8 percent

French luxury goods maker Hermés reported a lower-than-expected third-quarter revenue growth than analysts had expected.

According to data posted on the company’s website, revenue rose 4.8 percent to 3.881 billion euros in the third quarter from 3.704 billion euros a year earlier.

Excluding exchange rate changes, the growth was 9.6 percent. Analysts had expected a better figure of 10 percent.

Sales in France rose 10.4 percent to 403 million euros, in the rest of Europe 8.3 percent to 633 million euros, and in Japan 8 percent to 389 million euros. In Asia Pacific (excluding Japan), revenue increased by 0.3 percent to €1.589 billion, in the Americas by 7.2 percent to €714 million, while in other regions, including the Middle East, revenue increased by 6.1 percent to €154 million.

Revenue from sales of leather goods and harness increased by 8.1 percent to €1.7 billion, sales of ready-to-wear and accessories by 2 percent to €1.157 billion, sales of watches by 4 percent to €131 million, and sales of jewelry and home goods by 6.4 percent to €484 million. Meanwhile, revenue from the silk and textiles business decreased by 0.7 percent to €209 million, and sales of perfumes and beauty products by 8.6 percent to €118 million.
