War generates tourism risks
A recent report by the UN’s World Tourism Organisation forecasts a 50-63% drop in the number of foreign tourists because of the war in Ukraine, in comparison with 2019. The fact that there are no Russian and Ukrainian markets at the moment is a big blow to the sector, as these made up for 3% global tourism spending, approximately USD 14bn in 2020.
