Györgytea’s Baba product line and Balatonic are also Red Dot awardees
At the Red Dot Design Award, considered the most prestigious international design award, Barna Design won two awards in 2024 with the design of the Balatonic – Signature Edition and the packaging design of the Györgytea Baba product line.
Barna Design won two of their works at the Red Dot Design Award, one of the world’s best-known and largest graphics and design competitions. Györgytea, or Uncle Gyuri Szabó, and his herbal preparations have now become a concept. They wanted to expand the manufacturer’s portfolio with herbal cosmetics recommended for babies. During the design of the packaging and image, it was important to preserve the character of the brand. Each tube has the face of a well-known animal figure in Hungary, which gives the opportunity to play while bathing. In addition, the tube can be used as a dummy after emptying, thus reducing the ecological footprint of the product. In 2022, the design was also shortlisted at the world’s most prestigious packaging design competition, the Pentawards, and this year it won the Red Dot.
The design of the Balatonic Signature Edition was recognized with the other award, the design of which was previously also triumphant at the London Design Awards in 2023. Renowned bartenders collaborated in the development of the tonic recipe. The signature and portrait of the inspiration of the first bottle adorns the neck label of the bottle, making the Signature Edition a truly signed work of art. When creating the label, they wanted to evoke the world of art deco and the cosmopolitan feeling of life, further strengthening the artistic character. Special surface treatments, such as gold plating, UV formal varnish and 3D varnishing, give the product a unique and elegant appearance. Barna Design will receive the Red Dot awards at its festive gala on November 1.
