Children’s future is at stake now – you can vote in 198 Tesco stores
In 198 Tesco stores across the country, customers can vote for local projects that primarily support children and young adults to decide which ones will receive the most support. In the second round of Tesco’s “Start for the Future” application program, the company is supporting 164 community benefits with a total of more than 56 million forints, most of which focus on improving the living conditions and physical and mental development of people under 25. Between July 14 and August 10, customers of the department store chain can decide on the distribution of funding with the tokens they receive at the checkout. In all 58 districts, the project that collects the most tokens will receive 500 thousand forints, the one that receives the second most votes will receive 300 thousand, while the third place will receive 150 thousand forints. A total of five special award-winning local organizations can each spend an additional 500 thousand forints on the implementation of their projects.
This spring, applications were accepted for the second round of Tesco’s “Start for the Future” program, which provides financial support for local projects that primarily have a positive impact on children, adolescents and young people. The community initiative aims to provide funding to institutions and organizations across the country that want to improve the living conditions of people under 25 living in their immediate environment, but does not exclude other initiatives that are important to local residents.
“Nearly 300 applications were received in the second round of Start for the Future, of which the professional jury sent 164 to the voting stage. More than 30 percent of the projects that advanced deal with education and skill development, 26 percent with community activities and building relationships, while 20 percent help children and people of mixed age groups develop physical and mental health. More than 70 percent of the initiatives competing for the votes of customers are specifically aimed at those under 25, which is a special pleasure for us, since our renewed application program last year specifically focuses on them. The topics of the applications are extremely diverse, which clearly shows the diverse range of creative possibilities, and in many cases the communication of the projects is also thoroughly developed. I am proud that this time we can also announce five special award winners, whose initiatives have set values that are also important for Tesco.” “We are rewarding them with an additional HUF 500,000 each, and we trust that their activities will inspire others,” said Nóra Hevesi, Head of Communications at Tesco-Global Zrt.
