The GVH imposed a total fine of 22 million forints on the Czech company operating the Rondogo website
The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) has imposed a total of 22 million forints fine on the Czech company operating the Rondogo website – the authority told MTI on Tuesday.
According to the information, the Competition Council of the Hungarian Competition Authority has imposed a competition supervision fine of 20 million forints on the Czech-based RONDOgo s.r.o. (Rondogo), the company advertising online prize games and various discounts violated consumer protection rules on several points and engaged in deceptive commercial practices.
It was added that Rondogo delayed the conclusion of the procedure before the decision was made, therefore the GVH Competition Council also imposed a procedural fine of 2 million forints on the company.
The announcement explained that Rondogo provided various prize games, loyalty discounts and other discounted product purchase opportunities for consumers on the website it operated. The GVH assumed that the company was simultaneously engaging in unfair commercial practices in several respects, and the suspicions of the national competition authority were confirmed, they wrote.
They detailed that during the proceedings, the GVH revealed that the company had concealed significant information between March 2022 and July 2025 that not only Hungarian consumers were competing for the announced prizes, but also consumers from countries in which the company also operates a website in another language, and that it only pays out cash prizes that could be spun on the wheel of fortune above 2,900 forints. With the messages displayed on its website (“you can buy a product at the best price available on the Internet“, “we guarantee you the lowest price on the entire Internet“), it misled consumers about the extent of the price advantage provided. When displaying individual discounts, fictitious base prices were used that were not actually intended to be applied.
The investigation also revealed that Rondogo did not ensure the application of the requirement of professional diligence when developing the discount practice applied in its webshop between March 2022 and October 2024.
The pricing was designed in such a way that when purchasing credits that could be used as a discount for individual products, consumers had to purchase more credits than necessary to use the maximum discount available for the given product, thus causing them additional costs.
The Competition Council of the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) imposed a 20 million forint competition supervision fine on the When determining the fine, it took into account that the company cooperated during the procedure, did not dispute the facts revealed, admitted the violations and waived its right to legal remedy. At the same time, the company had shown behavior aimed at and resulting in the delay of the procedure before the decision was made, so the Competition Council – in a separate ruling – also imposed a procedural fine of 2 million forints on the Czech company.
In the announcement, the GVH drew the attention of companies to the fact that they can expect a significant procedural fine in the event of delaying the procedures.
The national competition authority advises consumers to always act cautiously and attentively in the case of certain prize games or coupon discounts. When using the services, it is recommended to check the terms and conditions of the contract, and in the case of coupon discounts, also the alternative offers.
Before the completion of the GVH procedure – as of November 1, 2025 – the Hungarian-language RONDOgo website affected by the investigation was closed – the competition authority announced.
