GKI – The competitive and business environment indexes of Microsoft- 2009. July
The GKI Economic Research Ltd., with the support of Microsoft publishes a quarterly index, where Hungary's competitiveness is compared to other countries of the region, as well as domestic and research the domestic business environment.
The Competitiveness Index (VEX), is consist of the the macroeconomic performance, labor productivity and the relative cost-competitiveness of individual components. In the first quarter of 2009, VEX has increased slightly, in only Poland and Romania, but decreased in the rest of the countries; in Hungary by 1.7 percent.
The index dealing with business environment is the UX index, which compresses the quality of national economic space, the positive or negative effects of their competitiveness, , into one number. The value of UX, which had an average of 50 points for the period of 2001 and 2008, fell onto 6 points.
