GFM supports the proposal of the Economic Competition Authority to create an online price monitoring database
The President of the Economic Competition Authority initiated the creation of an online price monitoring database based on the experiences of the ongoing accelerated sectoral investigations in the food sector. On behalf of the Government, Minister of Economic Development Márton Nagy supports Balázs Csaba Rigó’s pro-competitive and inflation-reducing proposal. In order to implement it as soon as possible, the parties will establish a joint working group at the beginning of next week.
The rapid increase in food prices throughout Europe is causing difficulties for the population and all actors in economic life. Fighting inflation is therefore a common goal, in order to protect families, the economy and market competition, the competition authority and the Government must seize all possible means to fight inflation and reduce it to single digits by the end of the year.
The Economic Competition Authority is conducting several accelerated sectoral investigations in the food sector: on January 20, it began investigating the market of milk and milk products, and on February 8, the market of durable foods.
