In October 2024, GESTOR Investment Co. successfully closed the acquisition of Indotek Group’s joint ventures in Spain and Portugal. Through the transaction, GESTOR Spain and GESTOR Portugal became fully owned by GESTOR Investment Co., thereby strengthening the company’s independent position in the Iberian Peninsula real estate market.

Closing a successful decade

GESTOR began its real estate investments in Spain and Portugal in late 2014, exactly ten years ago, together with the Indotek Group. The motivation for entering the local market was that, following the economic crisis of 2008, GESTOR recognized the potential of the Iberian Peninsula’s retail real estate market, especially in the small and medium-sized properties with a stable rental background.

Over the past ten years, GESTOR’s portfolio in Spain and Portugal has been expanded with prominent tenants such as Mercadona, Eroski, Aldi, Dia, Jysk and Media Markt. In Portugal, the portfolio also includes logistics centers and buildings designed for accommodation services. The carefully structured portfolio currently provides stable cash flow and provides a strong foundation for future developments and investments. Over the past decade, GESTOR has built successful, structured financing models with several local commercial banks, which have further strengthened the stability of the portfolio.

Focus on independent strategy

The acquisition allows GESTOR to fully focus on its own strategy. With more than a decade of experience in the Portuguese and Spanish real estate markets, the company aims to optimize the existing portfolio and explore new investment opportunities, especially in the retail and logistics real estate markets.

“This acquisition is not just a business transaction, but an important milestone for GESTOR. It reinforces our commitment to a long-term presence in the Iberian Peninsula, while creating the opportunity to shape our future entirely according to our own ideas,”

said András Gerő, owner-CEO of GESTOR Investments Zrt.
