The farmers would increase the size of the irrigated area with more than 200 thousand hectares
The farmers would irrigate on more than 330 thousand hectares if they had the opportunity. Now the size of the irrigated area is about 130 thousand hectares – the Director-General of the National Water Authority (OVF), told at the National Assembly’s Agriculture Committee meeting on Wednesday.
Somlyódy Balázs subsequently reported the results of tha survey assessing the needs for irrigation for agricultural purposes. The survey that was jointly carried out by the National Water Authority (OVF), the Ministry of Agriculture (FM), the National Agricultural Chamber (NAK) and the Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AKI) was completed at the end of March.
