“Gault&Millau and the newly opened restaurant in the capital, Time Out Market, which hosts the gala, both bring new opportunities for Hungarian gastronomy. For us, gastronomy is much more than good ingredients and recipes. It includes our culture, creativity and hospitality. Anyone who tastes our food immediately gets an idea of Hungary,”
– emphasized Olivér Csendes, CEO of Visit Hungary, in his welcoming speech.
As he explained, chefs and restaurants have a serious responsibility in this.
“Just like extreme athletes, chefs strive for perfection, there is a lot of work, passion, and self-sacrifice in what they do. They innovate, experiment with new flavors, which means taking risks. But more importantly, they not only cook, but also create an experience, which is essential for tourism. Thanks to everyone who contributes to Hungary taking a strong and exciting place on the gastronomic map”
– said Olivér Csendes.
The new Hungarian Gault&Millau restaurant guide contains a list and description of the best domestic restaurants. Csaba Harmath, the publication’s domestic professional manager, reported that the restaurant guide was prepared for a year, during which their autonomous and incognito testers, “inspectors”, visited Hungarian restaurants and scored them based on numerous criteria.
