Taxi drivers in Cluj demonstrated against companies providing ride-sharing services
On Wednesday, taxi drivers protested against ride-sharing companies Uber and Bolt, which are also present in Cluj-Napoca, in the Transylvanian city, stopping car traffic on several boulevards.
Organized into convoys, taxis traveling at a minimum speed paraded along the boulevards connecting several large residential areas of the city with the city center, and even stopped at some intersections, paralyzing traffic in Cluj-Napoca, which is already famous for its congested car traffic.
According to the Transilvania Taxi Association, which organized the march, their main goal was to protest against companies providing ride-sharing services, especially Uber and Bolt, which are also present in Cluj, and to pressure the mayor’s office of Cluj: not to allow their activities.
