Not a day passes by without you reading an article about the harmful environmental effects of plastics. Never, or at least with much less emphasis, is placed on the other side of the coin, the profession. With the rise of plastics, there have been unprecedented technical, production, material and energy efficiency developments in all areas of life, from the household, through transport to healthcare, but we could go on and on.
