The producer price of the young bull rose by 30 percent
According to the AKI’s slaughter statistics data, cattle slaughter in January-September 2024, expressed in live weight, was 8.6 percent below the amount in January-September 2023. Cows, which account for two-thirds of all slaughters, were slaughtered by 9 percent, heifers by 21.8 percent, while bulls increased by 1.9 percent at the same time.

Based on KSH data, Hungary’s live cattle exports increased by 1.4 percent (43.7 thousand tons), while their value decreased by 3.9 percent in January-August 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. The main partners were Kosovo, Croatia, Austria, Albania, Poland and Italy. Hungary’s live cattle imports exceeded the previous year by 11 percent (16.6 thousand tons), and their value increased by 8.8 percent. More than half of the live cattle came from Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and Slovakia. The volume of beef exports decreased by 20.3 percent (4.9 thousand tons), and the value by 16.7 percent. The volume of beef imports increased by 9.7 percent (9.5 thousand tons) and the value by 9 percent in the observed period. According to the data of AKI PÁIR, the producer price of the young bull was HUF 1,036/kilogram of carcass warm weight 2024 1-43. week, increased by 30 percent compared to a year earlier. The price of the slaughter heifer was 33 percent higher, and the price of the slaughter cow was 22 percent higher in the examined period.
