Village bakery
When the rapidly rising energy prices made the owner of the local bakery in Winterhausen, Germany (population: 1,500) realise that it can only survive by selling bread for 8 euros per kilogram instead of the present 4.8 euros, they decided to close the shop for good. Once they learned about the situation, the locals organised a charity event: more than 3,000 euros were collected at the street festival, plus the villagers agreed to turn the bakery into a cooperative.
