1.1 billion forints will be spent on the development of active water tourism in the Danube Bend
Active water tourism in the Danube Bend is being developed, modern, safe, high-quality infrastructure is being created at seven stops, including boathouses for water tourists. The project is being implemented with 1.1 billion forints of EU funding under the TOP Plusz program, the Hungarian Kayak-Canoe Association announced at a press conference in Budapest on Thursday.
The seven locations at the center of the development are: Ipolydamásd, Szob, Nagymaros, Visegrád, Vác, Szigetmonostor and Göd, they announced.
Minister of Justice Bence Tuzson, who is also the region’s Fidesz MP, said that
the project will include the construction of a boathouse in Göd that can accommodate 120 boats and ships. In addition, the local government has undertaken to rebuild the so-called Széchenyi csárda in addition to the boathouse and to renovate the nearby park.
This will create a meeting point for water, cycling and hiking tourism, the minister added.
Government spokesperson Eszter Vitályos, who is also the Fidesz MP for the region, drew attention to the fact that active water tourism is important not only for health preservation but also because it enriches the affected settlements, where it creates jobs and generates income for local businesses through tourism.
She said she was proud to work in a government that focuses on Hungarian families and that always looks at how they can help Hungarian families in their everyday lives.
