The way to taste beer – according to Dreher
With some practice one can not only be able to distinguish the main beer types, but also be able to choose ones favourite from the other beers, even blindfolded.
Before the professional beer tasting, the beer should be slightly warmed, because the ice-cold beer blunt the savour components and it does not allow to show the full aroma of beer.
All four senses are need in tasting the beer; eyesight, smelling, tasting, and the use of perception. First take look at the color of the beer. Is it gold, amber, or black-and-such. Then, hold it into the light, and observe that this is clear or turbid. Taste it in small gulps then rotate it in the mouth paying attention to the proportions and harmony of the flavors of the beer. The harmony of taste and smell, together provide the unique aroma, of each beer so to be safe repeat the tasting!
