Lidl passes from the digital to the real world
The feast of football has already started 10 days before FIFA World Cup with Lidl’s unique, Fan Cup application that is connecting the virtual and real spaces. The more than 10 million Lidl Facebook fans, and sports enthusiasts the thrills have begun on 2 June when 23 European countries have started to compete to be among the bests: http://apps.facebook.com/lidl-fan-cup/.
The revolutionary campaign is unique. Every virtual penalty kick is realized on a real soccer table. The offline matches are taking place at the Lidl Fan Cup Arena in Frankfurt on unique-looking tables, specially made for the competition, but every game is directed through the internet and it all happens in real time. In the 1500 square meters stadium 50 tables can be found, and two matches can be played at the same time on each.
