Co-op teams up with Deliveroo Express to offer on-demand delivery
Supermarket chain Co-op is partnering with Deliveroo to provide a white label solution for grocers and retailers across the UK.
The new service will allow customers to receive quick, online orders by leveraging Deliveroo’s backend technology and its network of riders to connect hundreds of Co-op stores, Grocery Gazette reports.
This marks the first collaboration between Deliveroo Express and a major grocery retailer and is a part of Co-op’s business strategy to expand its reach, Grocery Gazette reports.
Chris Conway, Co-op Quick Commerce Director, said: “Growing our quick commerce channel is a core part of our strategic approach, and I am delighted to build on our long-standing and successful partnership with Deliveroo.
“Working together we are focused on meeting the evolving needs of shoppers. This includes making the fast and reliable delivery of Co-op groceries available to more communities and creating value through member price savings as we see consumer appetite for quick and convenient grocery delivery from their local Co-op continue to grow,” Conway, added.
Co-op and Deliveroo have collaborated since 2018, and the new services builds on the partnership. In February, the convenience store retailer launched membership prices on Deliveroo’s platform.
Suzy McClintock, VP of New Verticals at Deliveroo, said: “We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Co-op as they adopt our white label delivery solution, supporting fast and reliable on-demand deliveries through their existing website.
“Deliveroo Express is the next step in our mission to transform on-demand delivery, ensuring we remain the partner for growth for grocers and retailers alike, helping them reach more consumers through their own online channels,” she added.
Deliveroo has been doubling down on its collaboration with retailers in the UK, recently linking with Morrisons, as well as partnering with Tesco for Whoosh.
