Danubius Hotels will renovate its hotels with an investment of 13 billion forints this year
The Danubius Hotels hotel chain plans to spend an unprecedented amount of 13 billion forints on investments from its own resources this year, after spending around 35 billion forints on the renovation of its hotels in the past five years, the company told MTI.
The owner of the hotel chain is the English CP Holdings Ltd. The hotel group owns and operates spa, wellness and city hotels in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania, and operates in Great Britain. They operate a total of 16 hotels in Hungary, including spa and wellness hotels under the Ensana brand.
Danubius Hotels Zrt. pays special attention to the continuous renovation of its hotels, they emphasized. The company’s hotel buildings are of different styles and ages, built from the late 19th to the late 20th century, including some historical buildings. Their modernization requires a completely different business mindset than that of newly built, environmentally conscious greenfield hotel investments – they noted.
In addition to aesthetic renewal, the goal is also to achieve energy modernization that will pay off in the long term. Balázs Kovács, CEO of Danubius Hotels Zrt., pointed out in the announcement: it is important that their hotels are sustainable from an energy perspective and renovated in an environmentally conscious way, which is why they devote a significant proportion of the investment amount to such developments. Solar panels and heat pumps are installed, and environmentally friendly materials are increasingly used. Dismantled equipment is recycled or donated to charity, while the use of plastics and unnecessary packaging is reduced – they wrote.
The renovation of the Danubius Hotel Helia on the Pest side of the Danube was completed in April 2025. The hotel’s entire capacity, 262 premium rooms and suites, has been renovated with smart features. The conference space, lobby and restaurants have been renovated in recent years, and new apartments and suites have been created
– they announced.
