Danone Hungary has obtained one of the world’s most significant social sustainability certifications
All countries of Danone’s Eastern-Central European region, i.e. in addition to Hungary, the company’s business units in Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia were awarded the B Corp™ certification. This certification highlights the company’s management, ethical operations, sustainable procurement practices, measures taken for the welfare of employees and community investments. The document emphasizes Danone’s social and environmental responsibility and recognizes the efforts made in areas such as regenerative agriculture, employee benefits and support for local communities.
B Corp™ is a certification system that assesses companies’ social and environmental responsibility. This certification indicates that the company complies with certain social, environmental, transparency and accountability standards, thus proving that they have in mind not only profit, but also social and environmental well-being in their operations. To be certified, a company must score at least 80 points in an assessment that covers not only products and services, but the entire value chain. This is the so-called B Impact Assessment. Danone’s East-Central European region obtained the certificate with 103.3 points.
Although there are 8,056 B Corp™ certified companies in 95 countries, only 2.9% of them are located in Central and Eastern Europe. In Hungary, only a few large companies can boast of this recognition.
