Daimler Truck’s quarterly profit falls 27 percent
German commercial vehicle maker Daimler Truck Holding AG’s after-tax profit fell 27 percent and revenue fell 13 percent in the third quarter, largely due to a drop in sales in the North American market.
The company’s website says its after-tax profit was 458 million euros in the three months to the end of September, compared with 627 million euros a year earlier.
Adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) fell 40 percent year-on-year to 716 million euros from 1.19 billion euros, missing expectations of 729 million euros.
Quarterly revenue fell to 11.45 billion euros from 13.14 billion euros a year earlier. Industrial division revenue fell 14 percent to 10.59 billion euros, in line with estimates.
Sales fell 15 percent to 98,000 vehicles. Sales in North America (Trucks North America) fell by 39 percent and in Asia (Trucks Asia) by 8 percent. Meanwhile, sales in the Mercedes-Benz Trucks division rose by 8 percent, while sales in the Daimler Buses bus segment fell by 4 percent.
Daimler Truck confirmed its industry revenue forecast of 44-47 billion euros this year and the company still plans to sell 410,000-440,000 vehicles by 2025.
