Dachser has put its first electric trucks into operation in the Netherlands
This is an important step on the way to emission-free transport, as the Netherlands plans to introduce “zero emission zones” in urban logistics on January 1, 2025.
The first electric truck used by Dachser Holland in Waddinxveen is a Volvo Electric FL 4×2. With this electric vehicle, the logistics service provider is testing the application of zero-emission technologies during everyday operations. The vehicle has been in use in the Rotterdam area for several weeks.
The Volvo Electric offers sufficient capacity with 18 pallet spaces and a payload capacity of six tons. Its range of up to 220 kilometers and the e-charging station at Dachser’s Waddixveen site make it ideal for urban transport. In addition, thanks to the electric drive, it not only has zero emissions, but also drives virtually silently, which significantly reduces noise pollution in urban areas.
At the beginning of July, a yellow-blue electric truck was also presented at the Dachser site in Zevenaar. This vehicle, a 16-ton Renault Trucks D Z.E., has a similar range and capacity to its Rotterdam counterpart. Renault makes urban deliveries in Arnhem and its surroundings.
